YAK Knowledge Mining System

An integrated solution for knowledge mining, management, delivery and intelligent data usage

About the Product

The YAK Knowledge Mining System is an integrated solution for knowledge mining, management, delivery and intelligent data usage. YAK is a suite of components for organizations seeking to make sense of wide and dispersed sets of data. The YAK framework has been used to implement several Knowledge Portals, Search Engines, Meta-Search Engines (more info regarding these can be provided on request) and Content Agglomerators.

Large databases potentially contain a great wealth of knowledge. However, traditional methodologies used to find meaningful or desired information can be a rigorous task and can take extraordinarily large amounts of time. Relying on human analysis results in either huge workloads or the analysis of only a tiny fraction of the database. YAK seeks to serve this purpose.

YAK can be implemented on just about any kind of data hat may include standard text, media, pictures and other content. Some typical implementations where such benefits can be seen are in searching e-Books, Financial Data from various stock markets, libraries and so on.

More details about YAK can be found in the Architecture Reference Document.

THE KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PARADIGM

Knowledge Discovery: This is the first stage in the knowledge supply chain. Data needs to be pulled from the various Data Sources and/or the cache in a manner that is both highly scalable and quick. Knowledge may then go into a storage pool that receives and stores knowledge. It is not possible always to perfectly forecast the demand for knowledge, so it requires a solution that can scale on the fly.

Knowledge Deployment: The System needs to deploy knowledge to network caches to deliver high QoS levels. It therefore needs a knowledge deployment management platform that pro-actively pushes out new knowledge as it arrives at the staging area. The platform should be able to distribute knowledge in both a tiered model and a one-to-many model, and flexible enough to serve knowledge based on variables such as location or knowledge type. This proactive approach ensures that the correct, up-to-date copy of the knowledge is being delivered.

Knowledge Delivery: Slow or flawed transmission of knowledge will definitely affect quality. Automated Ajax based or Ajax-like mechanisms can accept knowledge pushed out from the origin server and deliver it locally to end-users. This ensures the highest QoS possible.

Knowledge Usage Reporting: Systems require a software application that enables them to analyze the amount and type of knowledge served. This application should be able to generate graphical reports of usage information across the entire network.

YAK : A bovine mammal native of the high plains of Central Asia. Its neck, the outer side of its legs, and its flanks, are covered with long, flowing, fine hair. Its tail is long and bushy, often white, and is valued as an ornament and for other purposes in India and China. Known for its immense survival capabilities in the harshest of conditions. Yak is a picture of strength, stability and adaptation.
